FULL DAY GREEN LAGOON – AZUFRAL VOLCANO

Early morning, the journey begins from Pasto to Tuquerres. Stop for breakfast. Start of the trek to the Azufral Volcano, at the top of which are the Green and Black Lagoons at a height of 4,000 meters above sea level, being the lowest of the active volcanoes of Nariño. The Green Lagoon is at the top of the Azufral Volcano, in the mountainous sector known as the Nudo de los Pastos. Walk in ascension of approximately three hours as in the descent of the volcano. Once you reach the top of the crater, you can see the emerald green color lagoon. While descending you will be able to observe frailejones, pajonales, the surrounding valleys and other flora and fauna of the high mountain and paramo (moorland). Time to enjoy the scenery, peace and silence of the place. Descent to Túquerres. Lunch. Return to the city of Pasto.

This route crosses the páramo ecosystem (moorland) so the climate will be cold due to its height, wind and location between mountains and rain may be present.

DURATION: 10-11 hours

SCHEDULE: 6:00 AM.

NOTES: The tour is recommended in summer season from January to March and from June to October. For the ascent can be hired horses (additional cost).
