San Jose del Guaviare is located on the border between the Llanos Orientales and the Amazon jungle. With an average temperature of 25 ºC, the capital of the department of Guaviare is a destination that allows to know forests, savannas, rivers and indigenous ethnic groups. Here stand out strange rocky formations and is Cerro Azul, a place where pictograms are made in stones by indigenous tribes.
In 2018 UNESCO declared the Chiribiquete National Natural Park as a World Heritage site. This park extends between the departments of Caquetá and Guaviare, and is recognized for its biodiversity, mountainous formations, preservation, and with little to no human intervention, which makes it perfect for protecting endangered species and research into new unidentified species.
