HALF DAY CAVING

The Amazon is full of amazing stories of the people who settled this land, inhabited the riverbanks and small towns with curious names.

In the Amazon region three countries meet in a mixture of nationalities and blend of languages such us Portuguese and Spanish often called “portuñol”. Leave Leticia in the morning by boat to the south passing thought the Brazilian city of Tabatinga on the left bank and the Peruvian town of Ramón Castilla on the right. Pass the Aramaza Island until you reach the canal that connects the Amazon River with the Javari River which, at the same time, is the frontier between Brazil and Peru.

Here it might be possible to observe the grey and pink dolphins. At the mouth of the Javarí River is the Brazilian town of Benjamin Constant.

Here, navigate in the black waters of the Saraiva Lake to see local fauna and flora; visit a rubber tree plantation to observe the latex extraction and the Museo Etnográfico Ticuna. After a typical Brazilian lunch, continue by boat to the Peruvian town of Islandia, located in an island where houses are built over wooden piles to prevent flooding during the rainy season. Return to Leticia.

DURATION: Approximately seven hours.
