DAY 1 | Bogotá – La Macarena – El Mirador and Caño Cristalitos

Early morning transfer to Bogota Airport to take a direct flight to La Macarena. Upon arrival melcome by a local guide and transfer to the hotel. Welcome speech. Once checked into your hotel you make your first excursion along Guayabero River to El Mirador where you can observe the beautiful plains landscape and then an area called Caño Cristalitos which is a natural formation similar to Caño Cristales with less extension. Lunch will be given during the eco hike. Return to La Macarena Town, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2 | Macarena – Caño Cristales – “Parrando Llanero”

Breakfast. In the morning, transfer to the Rio Guayabero port to take a boat over the Guayabero river, after 20 minutes continue by land transport from the point of disembarkation to Cajuche spring. Begin of the eco hike to Caño Cristales, also known as the 5 colors river, red, green, yellow, blue and black can been seen. Enjoy the beautiful river and continue walking to see different waterfalls. Visit the central, left or right arm according to CORMACARENA permits (La Macarena Regional Autonomous Corporation). Lunch during the excursion. Return to the hotel in La Macarena. In the evening enjoy music, dance and gastronomy of the region joining a celebration called “Parrando llanero”, where you will have veal “a la llanera”, accompanied by the joropo dance and llanera music. Overnight stay.

DAY 3: Laguna del Silencio

Breakfast. Today you will do a different kind of trekking along a solitary path through the Bosque de las Marimbas until you reach the Laguna del Silencio (Silence Lagoon). This is a lagoon that collects all the water from Caño Cristales before meeting the Guayabero River. After an hour of walking to reach the lagoon, you will take a small canoe to take a tour of this incredible mirror of water surrounded by calm and bird songs. Lunch during the excursion. Return to the hotel in La Macarena. Dinner. Overnight stay.

DAY 4: Bajo Losada – La Macarena Town – Bogotá

In the morning, visit to Bajo Losada or another of the areas according to Cormacarena permits. Bajo Losada is characterized by being the place where the Guayabero River flows into the Losada River. There you can enjoy the flora and fauna, being the place most visited by the pink dolphin. Return to La Macarena Town for your flight to Bogotá.

IMPORTANT: A Yellow Fever vaccination is recommend by all visitors to Caño Cristales and certificates may be request upon arrival. The order of touring days may change.

NOTE: The trails, by which you will walk, depend on the path designated by Cormacarena and National Parks (National System of Protected Areas).  The walks can be from 4 to 10 km.
